Ice build-up reported before ATR crash
The accident aircraft was originally delivered to Albanian carrier Belle Air in June 2010. Between
January 2015 and June 2022, the turboprop flew with Indonesian airline Pelita Air Service before joining Voepass in October 2022

preliminary report into the fatal crash of a Voepass ATR has revealed that the flight’s first officer commented about the presence of “a lot of ice” before control of the aircraft was lost.
Analysing cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) data, Brazil’s Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) has been able to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the accident.
On August 9, 2024, Voepass flight 2283, which was flying between Cascavel/Adalberto Mendes da Silva and São Paulo/Guarulhos, was in the final stages of the cruise when it crashed, killing all 62 people on board, including 58 passengers and four crew members. The aircraft involved was 14-year-old ATR 72-500, PS-VPB (c/n 908).
