This Waterloo Medal 1815 was awarded to John C Wolf for his service during the battle as part of the 2nd battalion of the Grenadier Guards.
The regiment fought during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, but it was after Waterloo that it achieved undying fame. Following its defeat of the French Imperial Guard’s grenadiers, the unit changed its title and bearskin headdress and took a flaming grenade as its cap badge.
