COINCIDING with Hong Kong sales in March, Sotheby’s is holding a selling exhibition of mid-century European furniture in its Hong Kong gallery from March 20-26.
It is an indication that the auctioneer sees the market evolving. The Masters of Design show numbers 13 pieces with prices from $30,000. Sotheby’s says a third party owns the items for sale. Highlights include a teak Boomerang table (above) designed for the town of Chandigarh, India c.1955, by Le Corbusier, and Pierre Jeannette and Charlotte Perriand’s oak and enamelled steel wall shelving Nuage from 1956.
