On July 13 Skinner will be selling the Victor & Muriel Polikoff Collection comprising nearly 300 lots of 18th and early 19th century ceramics. Wedgwood, which the Polikoffs first started collecting half a century ago, features prominently (Muriel is a past president of the Wedgwood International Seminar) but there is also 18th century saltglaze and Whieldon wares as well as Moorcroft and Doulton pottery. Pictured here is a pair of early 19th century Wedgwood calyx krater form urns in black basalt with encaustic decoration standing 11in (28cm) high and dated to the early 19th century which are estimated at $3000-5000.
