The Black Catalogue is a new publication by Tom Rooth, who left Christie’s over a year ago to set up on his own as an art dealer and consultant.
It showcases the variety of his offerings such as Sting, The Crickets, and a Beatle, an oil on panel by the Belgian painter Auguste Bonnefoi (1813-83), which measures 8½ x 8½in (21.5 x 21.5cm) and is offered in a 17th century Dutch frame for £12,500. It depicts a group of insects engaged in a variety of artistic pursuits.
