A Cardiff estate has provided a highly useful consignment to Welsh saleroom Rogers Jones (18% buyer’s premium inc VAT) with around 45 modern British paintings in all.
The works were all left to the vendor by his late mother who collected Welsh, northern English and Scottish paintings. One of the stand-out lots, however, was a small LS Lowry (1887-1976) oil on board, right, which was believed to have been purchased by his grandfather in the 1960s from the Stone Gallery in Newcastle.
