Collection of British Library designers

Plaster study for Paolozzi’s bronze of Newton – estimate £300-500 at Sworders.

Items from the homes of MJ Long (1939-2018) and Colin ‘Sandy’ St John Wilson (1922-2007), the husband and wife team that designed the British Library, come for sale at Sworders in Stansted Mountfitchet later this month.

The 20th Century Design sale on January 28 includes furnishings from both the couple’s London home, a former sculptor’s studio in St John’s Wood, and their West Sussex weekend retreat.
