Saturday July 16, club championship final. Todd Jameson versus Stuart Campbell. Todd or Stuart had never made the final stage before. Todd convincingly beat the top qualifier, Neil Stewart, while Stuart beat Iain Murchie with a birdie at the third extra hole, all played in rather uncomfortable conditions.
The first 18 saw a nervy start for both players with Todd having a penalty drop from the hazard and a missed putt for Stuart halving the first in bogeys. The next eight holes saw entertaining matchplay with average scoring resulting in Todd being one up at the turn. A small error by Todd gave Stuart the 11th, squaring the match, which Todd followed with a positive par at the 12th to go one up for a second time. Failure to par the next two found Stuart one behind again. The 15th was halved, the fourth of the day, and Stuart holed a fine birdie at 16 to square the game. The next two were lost to par golf making Todd two up at the half ay stage.

Players at the visitors versus locals friendly match which took place in Shiskine last Tuesday. The game ended in a draw.
The second 18 commenced at 5pm in moderate rain. Both began with excellent pars but at two Stuart found the bunker resulting in Todd going three up after Stuart’s sand save ended up out of bounds. He rallied with a solid par to halve the third and won four with a par after Todd’s approach took a flyer.
