THOMAS RÖHLER bounced back from his disappointment at the European Championships to take gold after his path to victory was made easier by an injury to Julius Yego.
The German, who was only fourth at the European Championships, returned to form with 90.30m, the second best mark in Olympic history. Up until that fifth-round effort world champion Yego led with 88.24m from the first round, but his challenge dissipated after he injured an ankle on his second throw. Defending champion Keshorn Walcott won bronze with 85.38m.
