WRITER-DIRECTOR ANDREW STEGGALL TELLS US ABOUT THE TRUE STORY BEHIND DEPARTURE, HIS FIRST FEATURE FILM
Beatrice and her son Elliot are packing-up their home in the south of France, before it’s sold. As Elliot (right, played by Alex Lawther) explores the countryside, he meets handsome local teenage r Clément — an encounter that awakens his sexuality. As his adventure begins, his mother struggles with her isolation in the face of a failing marriage. Director Andrew Steggall presents a film that transcends the traditional coming out drama, instead looking at the emotional transition from a static, suffocating existence to an uncertain future.
The story is very personal to you.
