THE INNOCENCE MISSION
SEE YOU TOMORROW
BELLA UNION
Of the two comparisons – 10,000 Maniacs and The Sundays – to stick with this folksy Pennsylvania band since their 1989 debut, the latter’s most relevant on this fragile 11th collection. That said, it’s barer than The Sundays were, with Karen Peris’ childlike voice dazzling on quiet piano ballad John As Well, while I Would Be There feels as good as a Sunday morning in bed. There’s a Stina Nordenstam delicacy, too, to The Brothers Williams Said, while We Don’t Know How To Say Why could be an acoustic Cranberries outtake. WW
