I want step-by-step strategies and techniques of ABA for the treatment of an autistic child.
Many people dealing with ABA treatments often assume there is a step-by-step process for working with children with autism. While many components of ABA therapy can be used and applied, it is important to remember that the process is not the same for each child.
ABA-trained personnel often work with children to improve their communication skills, academic abilities, behavioral reactions, social interactions, and daily living skills. These skills can be applied in the home, school, and community.
What is ABA Therapy?
ABA therapy is “Applied Behavior Analysis” and involves a professional trained in that therapy working one-on-one with your child. During ABA therapy sessions, the professional will work to teach your child with autism new behaviors or skills.
How can ABA therapy assist your child?
Many aspects of ABA therapy can assist children with autism. It is probably best known for helping children regulate challenging behaviors or teaching children how to self-monitor their behavioral responses.
ABA therapists often work with children on the spectrum by teaching them communication skills. These children can learn how to engage effectively in a reciprocal conversation instead of maintaining a one-sided discussion surrounding a topic that interests them.
