It was the Christmas concert at my four-year-old son’s daycare. Like all the other moms in the small auditorium, I was craning my neck, scanning the crowd to find him as his class entered the room and started to approach the stage.
There was my beautiful blue-eyed boy with a cowlick that refused to be tamed, much like his uniquely exuberant spirit.
His walk across the stage was different. His inability to just stand on his two feet without stumbling was different. His inability to attend to what his teachers and other four-year-old friends were doing was different.
