March arrives with the easiest resubscription decision I face all year: £40 to watch online the Supercars Championship, Australia’s touring car racing series.
Central to its appeal to me is that it features rear-wheel-drive V8 coupés with locked differentials. That and the fact that the organisers put parity between competing brands top of the agenda, so it offers very close racing.
But apparently not close enough: when following other cars, racers have complained about sitting in ‘dirty’ air, which disrupts aerodynamic performance, making passing harder and overheating mechanicals. Not that you would know it as a spectator.
