Like it or not, ‘software-defined cars’ are the future
IN-CAR SOFTWARE has been gaining importance steadily over the past few decades, and now it’s vital. The underlying computerbased electronics behind every car have become so complicated that they can cause delays in rolling out new models, longer lead times and higher costs.
Automotive software supplier Elektrobit thinks it can reverse that trend from 2026 with a more accessible operating system for cars, called EB Corbus, which it claims is the first opensource OS to be compliant with car safety standards.
