As Formula 1 grid pictures go, the one above will be hard to beat. The World Champions Collection, featuring cars associated with all 34 F1 champions crowned since the first in 1950, was gathered on the August bank holiday weekend at Silverstone – the scene of where it all began 75 years ago.
The anniversary has been well and truly milked by race promoters, event organisers and publishers through 2025. (No complaints from me: I’ve written my fair share of F1 75 words these months past!) But the display gathered for the Silverstone Festival historic meeting should be considered a definitive, rich and entirely fitting coda to the seasonal celebrations.
