Bass Player UK Magazine November 2016 Back Issue

Ten years we’ve been trying to get Sting on our cover. Ten years! And here we are, with an another item ticked off the bass bucket list. Back in rock territory and doing bass interviews again after a decade of diversions into folk and classical territory, the man born Gordon Sumner sits down with us to reveal things we never knew. Jaco used to call him up in the wee hours of the morning. He has no time for five-strings. And he has never recorded a Christmas madrigal... Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to meet a bona fide legend when that word is criminally overused.
We’ve brought you more bass content than ever before in this issue, thanks to sit-downs with Brian Marshall of Alter Bridge, Nick Fyffe of The Temperance Movement, Richard Turner of Blackberry Smoke, Tim Commerford of Wakrat, Pete Trewavas of Marillion, Martin Méndez of Opeth and Steve Uccello. That’s a whole lot of low-end amazingness, and that’s before we sent Mike Brooks and Phil Mann to Warwick HQ and the Players School in Florida respectively. Then there’s a feast for the eyes in the form of new gear from Music Man, Sigma, Peavey, Genzler and 3 Leaf, plus enough tuition to keep you busy for a month, no matter what your ability. Dive in, and we’ll see you next month!

Really interesting

Lots of interesting articles Reviewed 25 April 2022

Bass Player UK

I'm writing from Colombia. I really enjoy the magazine. Thanks guys. Reviewed 20 December 2020

Always a good read

Really entertaining view of guitar Reviewed 11 July 2019

Preferred the old reader

Although the new version has a few extra goodies like a side menu with all articles and a nicer layout, the zoom isn't as good as the old reader. With my phone horizontal the maximum zoom still has tiny lettering. It would be no good to someone who is short sighted. Reviewed 24 November 2012
