Not all heroes wear capes, right? Actually, most heroes don’t wear capes, because they are the everyday people working on ground-breaking – or earth-fixing, as you’ll see shortly – developments that are going to save the planet. Better still, if you thought lab coats were the only alternative to capes, think again. With an abundance of accessible, pocketable tech out there, the league of planet-savers can be found wearing jeans and a bamboo shirt, too. Although this piece is on future innovations, we all have it within our capacity to reduce the amount of fossil fuels we use every day, right now in the present – we just need to be more mindful. Whether this is reducing our use of public transport, lift sharing or cycling to work, the end result is the same – we cut our use of fossil fuels. Fancy having the power of the sun on your back or in your pocket? Well, thanks to developments in solar technology, that’s a very realisable and sustainable possibility. That’s because the sun’s pretty big – like, you can fit over one million planet earths inside it, kind of big. And with that size comes energy, A LOT of energy. We’ve not been too bad at making the most of that energy either. However, so long as the sun is shining, which is a daily occurrence, the sky’s the limit with possibilities when it comes to solar tech.
