BIO-CUP
DEAD MEN DON’T SWEAT
Nikita Nikolsky demonstrates how to convey a scene using cartoonish characters in this masterful build
Words: Geneva Durand
BLOOD, SWEAT AND tears — it sounds like the perfect category for Bio-Cup semi-finals! Nikita Nikolsky was tasked with interpreting 'Sweat', and his creative take is full of cartoonish whimsy.
Blocks: How big are the figures in Dead Men Don’t Sweat? Were they hard to pose?
Nikita: The figures were disassembled last year right after the end of the contest, so it’s hard to give precise numbers. It’s worth mentioning that the characters are definitely taller than a standard BIONICLE figure. The build is pretty solid, but such a dynamic pose would not be possible without the stand made out of Technic beams that holds the chest – it’s not visible in the final image. Dynamics and playing with scale were key goals in this model.
