IF ever there was a time for Amir Khan to agree to fight Kell Brook, it is 2016. With his latest big-name target Manny Pacquiao delivering a telling snub to the Englishman by choosing to go over old ground against Timothy Bradley [see page 8], Khan’s options are fading fast. Should Khan resist the lure of this mighty domestic showdown, his credibility will take a hit that will be hard to come back from.

While his countrymen turned in a stellar 2015, the Bolton star endured a frustrating year largely spent on the sidelines. The likes of Tyson Fury, Billy Joe Saunders, James DeGale and more, all dazzled at the highest level, leaving Khan – traditionally one of his nation’s leading boxers – failing to register in the Top 10, or even pick up an honourable mention, in our British Fighter of the Year awards. His one outing, a tougher-thanexpected 12-round decision over the game but limited Chris Algieri, illustrated again that when Khan is not truly motivated he can struggle.
