This knock-down and rebuild by McLean Quinlan followed the footprint of a dilapidated farmhouse at the foot of a Devon hill. The modern family home was designed to fit with the local vernacular, prompting the architects to choose stone salvaged from the demolition to clad the new construction. The dark grey offers a dramatic contrast against the expansive glazing, giving this dwelling a contemporary feel amid its period charm.
