AN AIRBUS A330 belonging to Aeroflot has returned to Russia after undergoing engineering work in Iran. The move comes after Western sanctions against the country have prevented airlines from sourcing spare parts or having maintenance work carried out in the West.
The aircraft, an A330-343, RA-73700 (c/n 1264), delivered to the airline in September 2011, underwent a C-Check at Mahan Air’s MRO facility in Tehran. According to Flightradar24, it spent 11 months at the site and only returned to its Moscow/Sheremetyevo base on March 1. Speaking at the time, Aeroflot said in a statement: “The maintenance of the Airbus A330 aircraft (in Iran) will be implemented by a provider for a wide range of work.”
