Mach 1 rally racers set for rip-roaring weekend

PETROLHEADS are set to pour into Kintyre from today as the fourth Mach 1 rally revs up for action.

Support teams and organisers have been working at full throttle since Monday to prepare the venue at the former airbase.

In addition, they have completed jobs such as placing green signs on lampposts to route spectators through the town.

Tonight, by popular demand, about seven crews and their vehicles are expected at the ferry terminal from about 6pm to 7.30pm. It is a great chance to meet the drivers and navigators and last year many youngsters enjoyed sitting in a real rally car.
