Arran primary schools have had a record intake of primary one pupils this year.
In a healthy sign, a total of 44 pupils are starting their schooling at the island’s seven primary schools.
Foremost among them is Brodick primary with a huge intake of 17 pupils, including the Popplewell triplets who were delighted to be at ‘big school’. Primary one teacher Mrs Morag Donaldson said: ‘Having such a large number of pupils in the same year is ideal. The pupils are at the same level and this will help them progress through their schooling careers.’
