Organisers of the ArranMan Triathlon Festival – which was due to be held last weekend – had to cancel the event due to concerns about the weather which was predicted to see high winds gusting in excess of 41mph.
Calling the entire event off just three days before the anticipated start, the event has in the past attracted more than 2,500 athletes, family members and spectators.
Expressing his disappointment and acknowledging the anger that many participants might feel, organiser Alan Anderson, said that he had been erring on the side of caution and making the decision days before the event, rather than having to cancel it hours prior to it starting.
