Matt Clowes: inaugural Wilmslow winner




CARDIFF’S Matt Clowes secured victory at the inaugural running of this event with the James Thie-coached athlete breaking the tape in a season’s best 19:55. Clowes who started to break away around the 5km mark held off a strong challenge from Liverpool Harrier Dan Cliffe (30:07) with Sale’s Matt Bond (30:10) finishing in third around the picturesque Cheshire countryside.

In the women’s race, Faye Fullerton took top honours with the Havering athlete also running a season’s best 34:27, just ahead of Charnwood’s Jane Potter (34:31) with Kirsty Longley completing the top three.
