ACCOUSTIC shock waves proved effective in speeding up a damaged muscle’s healing rate, according to a new study by Austrian scientists.
Using low-frequency shock waves – a therapeutic technique called Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) – has shown promise for injuries like ligament and tendon damage. In the latest trial, Dr Angela Zissler, of the University of Salzburg, showed how it can also speed up recovery from muscular problems.
