Queer British artist Jam Sutton’s work explores the space between technology, portraiture and antiquity, creating both digital and physical sculptures of the male form. Using 3D printing and artificial intelligence, he explores queer love and desire all the while merging the modern with the ancient mythologies and art of Egypt and Greece. Inspired by some of the greatest gay lovers, such as Hadrian and Antinous, his work balances the masculinity of gay intimacy with tenderness. Every detail is meticulous, with finger and tool marks akin to clay sculptures. Dereliction makes his work look like the ruins of ancient Greek and Roman art, while sitting in a modern landscape in the form of collages, electric colours and contemporary clothes and accessories.
