YEARS & YEARS

THE BREAKTHROUGH BAND OF THE YEAR ARE RELEASING THEIR DEBUT ALBUM EARLY THIS SUMMER AND WILL PROCEED TO WOW CROWDS AT MUSIC FESTIVALS FROM DEVON TO HELSINKI

What was the first ever music festival you went to?

I went to this festival called Glade, which is a drum & bass festival, when I was 17 or 16. It was really messy; I got horrendously wasted and left after one day.

What’s the best item to take to a festival?

Tissues? Just take tissues. Because if you’re ever caught short, you have tissues.

What’s your best festival experience?

Secret Garden Party last year was really fun. We played on the last day but we went for the whole weekend.

What’s your worst festival experience?

Ermmm, day three at Secret Garden Party, when we had to perform and I thought I was gonna pass out. I really don’t recommend two days of partying before playing at a festival. I thought I was gonna die. But I made it through.

Which festival are you most excited to play this summer?

Glastonbury, for sure. It’s legendary, it’s iconic. I’ve never been. We’re doing Flow in Finland this year too, which is going to be sick. All those Scandi festivals are SO cool. There’s one called Way Out West as well. They’re all the BEST line ups.

About Attitude

The new issue feature former child star turned Bates Motel psycho, Freddie Highmore – who is all grown up in our exclusive shoot and interview. We also have a feature looking at why gay men love horror movies so much. On the eve of the UK general election we look back at party voting records and ask can we really trust the Tories? And as the Irish marriage referendum approaches, we look at the country’s road to equality, and how Colin Farrell is supporting his gay brother. In other voting matters, we ask experts if the UK can ever hope to win the Eurovision again. We have interviews with pop prince Will Young, American TV guru Andy Cohen, music mogul Pete Waterman, and that absolute babe Alexandra Burke. We also give you the run down on all the best prides and festivals of the summer.
