Autism Parenting  |  Issue 193
Dear Readers,
As temperatures rise in July, so can some people's emotions. Feeling hot, sticky, or uncomfortable can be challenging. The loss of a school routine can bring uncertainty or boredom. For children and their parents on the spectrum, those rising and falling emotions can be like a rollercoaster, but without the thrill. Our theme this month is “Emotional Regulation: Support Without Struggle”. Supporting a child, teen, or adult with autism comes with an array of challenges. We cover many topics that should help bring down the heat, along with strategies and examples from lived experience for loved ones of all ages. As you and your family work toward regulating the many emotions you may be experiencing, take time for some fun and festivities. While the temperatures may be uncomfortable and oppressive, remember that a diamond is created with heat and pressure. Help your diamonds sparkle, but don’t forget to cool off in the pool or air conditioning! Happy reading!
