After a tentative few years of shows (and some not at all), Cake International (and the newly launched Bake International) was back in all its glory this year – stands from the well-known brands like Renshaw and Wilton were big, bold and bright, with other stands like Frost Form showcasing beautiful Insta-worthy balloon displays, catching the eye as soon as you arrived.
Never to disappoint, the large cake displays were awe-inspiring. As you entered, a Bollywood tribute entitled Lights, Camera, Bollywood! Led by Tina Scott Parashar and sponsored by Sugarin left you star struck. Further inside, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw what was my personal favourite, due to my daughter being a fan of the best-selling book by Tom Fletcher, The Christmassaurus by Zoe’s Fancy Cakes – set to music too, this festive dinosaur certainly brought some Christmas magic to the show! Being a fan of the BBC show Peaky Blinders, the Shelbys were brought to life in cake by Stephanie Would, Jane Lashbrook, Dionis Iarovio, Sherry Clark, God Laivyte and Corinna Maguire, sponsored by Renshaw and Sweet Success, to pay tribute to the last season of the show. I think these have been my favourites yet to see at CI, and I haven’t even yet mentioned the jaw-dropping Tutankhamun display by Emma Jayne!
