BIG BREESY

WE BLINKED, AND DREW BREES IS NOW THE NFL’S ALL-TIME LEADING PASSER. AT 39, HE’S AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME.

It’s too bad that Drew Brees is too short to succeed in the NFL.

He can’t get a clear view over his of ensive line. He doesn’t have the frame to withstand the beating an NFL quarterback takes over a long career. His recordsetting college stats won’t translate to the pros. He lacks accuracy and touch on long throws. He’s not a first-round draf pick.

Seventeen years ago, those concerns pushed Brees down to the second round of the 2001 NFL Draf All he’s done since then is consistently prove every doubter wrong. While fans have been arguing lately over the greatest quarterback of all time, it’s Brees who now sits alone at the top of the career passing yardage list. He blew past Peyton Manning’s career record of 71,940 yards in October, and likely will come close to Manning’s career touchdown record by the end of the season.

Brees may not look like the ideal NFL quarterback, except when the ball comes out of his hands. It’s pretty beautiful to watch. His control and placement has only sharpened over the years. At 39 years old, he’s playing better than ever. Numbers don’t lie, and the stats say he’s the most prolific and most efficient passer to ever play in the NFL.
