Energy efficient homes more likely to retain value
According to a survey from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (www.rics. org), 61% of agents and surveyors are finding that homes with high energy efficiency aren’t suffering from the same price falls as others. Four in 10 members of the institute report that sellers are trying to attach a premium to their house’s price based on its eco credentials, which could present a sound long-term investment for buyers given current energy prices. This comes as a study by Cornerstone Tax (www.ctatax.uk.com) reveals that 36% of homeowners say that making their home more energy efficient is a priority for them. However, 45% are finding it too expensive to make these changes without financial support from the government.
