Kime and Frank Baranowski purchased their 1937 “Cream City” brick Cape Cod home in 2009 and fell in love with it instantly. “The Cream City” nickname became attached to Milwaukee as this brick was dominant during the first 70 years of the city’s existence. Brick-makers fired the local red lacustrine clay, which contains a high calcium and magnesium content, to produce soft golden-yellow bricks.
