It’s a three-day flat hike to Hull from Spurn Point, along the embankments of the busy shipping channel that is the Humber. These winter days are short, but the sun is beautiful. The container ships emit a low rumble as they pass, blacking out the lights of Grimsby on the far shore as they glide past. I wake up the next morning to find frost inside the tent; putting my feet into my icy boots certainly gets me moving.
