The ability to change the colour of elements within images, and to control saturation locally rather than globally, are among the most interesting and useful aspects of image-editing. Photoshop makes this incredibly easy to do. While this kind of manipulation may not immediately appear to be in the spirit of realism, there are times where changing colours is necessary to create contrast or simply to change the overall mood or meaning of the image.
