‘Storm the Castle’ by Lee Rouse 1 “The rapidly changing evening light meant I had to work quickly, taking multiple frames to stitch together using the shifting abilities of my tilt-shift lens. I opted for this approach to get a wider field of view, including all of the castle and its reflection, plus the impressive storm clouds that were being lit by the swiftly setting sun. There were multiple frames, all at 1/25 sec, f/11 and ISO 100.” Instagram: @ljrouse
Digital Camera says: The sun’s golden light illuminating the dark clouds before the storm brings this image to life. Using a tilt-shift lens has helped Lee get the wide view and perspective he was after.
2 ‘Kingston Flyer’ by James Chapman
“The Kingston Flyer is a restored vintage steam locomotive that runs excursions near Lake Wakatipu on New Zealand’s South Island. The locomotive and carriages were restored in 2017 and, since 2022, trains have made the 14km journey between Kingston and Fairlight every weekend from September to June each year. This photo was taken near a crossing on one of the first days following restoration.”
