The world’s biggest bird competition, Bird Photographer of the Year 2022 is now open for entries, and there are some big updates for the latest edition of the avian image contest – including an overall prize fund of £25,000 and a cash Grand Prize of £5,000 for the overall winner.
All the classic categories remain, including Best Portrait, Birds in the Environment and Bird Behaviour. For 2022, there’s also a new Video Award in the adult competition, which is open to videographers with three or fewer major broadcast credits. The judges are looking for a 2-5 minute video that features birds as the subject and shows strong cinematography and camera skills. The prize for this category is a RED KOMODO camera worth £6,000.
