Interview by ALISTAIR McGOWN
Artist Andrew Skilleter.
A ndrew Skilleter’s artistic talents first graced Target’s Doctor Who books in 1979. Having illustrated the kiddie-orientated titles Terry Nation’s Dalek Special and The Adventures of K9 and Other Mechanical Creatures (commissions fulfilled at short notice and to a tight deadline), he produced his first novelisation cover with Doctor Who and the Destiny of the Daleks. Over the next seven years, his prolific output surpassed even that of Chris Achilleos, with 34 new published covers, eight reprint re-jackets and many other cover projects for WH Allen, including the Dalek Omnibus (1983) and Peter Haining’s reference book The Key to Time (1984).
