Do you recognise Kathleen?
I have been researching my family tree for a number of years and have always been intrigued by the mystery that surrounds my great-grandmother – Kathleen Mary Jerrard, born 26 December 1906. We have always known that Kathleen was adopted by Frederick and Ellen Jerrard and I was interested to see on the 1911 Census that she appeared alongside Frederick and Ellen’s family and was actually listed as their niece.
I have searched in vain for her birth certificate but have never been able to find one. While searching recently I came across the births listed for Beatrice Annie Jerrard and her twin Elsie Mary Jerrard who were also born in the same area on the same day as my great-grandmother. When I then looked into this further I found that the mother of Elsie and Beatrice (Elizabeth Jerrard, née Young) was actually the sister of Ellen Jerrard (née Young) who had taken in and brought up Kathleen.
While using an online family tree website I came across a picture of Beatrice on her wedding day in
