In the last two years, Ian Hutchinson has competed in 10 TT races. He’s finished on the podium in all 10 and won six – and that’s why he’s the man to beat – but it’s the Superbike and Senior race wins he wants more than anything in 2017.

The unrivalled success has moved the Bingley rider on to a career total of 14 TT wins, the joint third highest, along with Mike Hailwood, by a solo rider and bettered only by Joey Dunlop (26 wins) and John McGuinness (23) – and he’s firmly focused, not just in 2017, but in the years ahead too, of consistently improving that tally.

This year sees the now 37-year-old arrive on the Island with the same teams and manufacturers he rode for in 2016, Tyco BMW for the three 1000cc races and Keith Flint’s Team Traction Control for the two Supersport 600cc encounters. With a number of team changes in recent years, it’s that consistency and familiarity that he’s wanted and one that he believes will ultimately pay dividends.

“I was really pleased to have signed a deal to remain with Tyco BMW for a second season and, looking back, we had a really good run, not just at the TT but at all of the International Road Races with wins at the TT, NW200 and Ulster GP.

“Having worked together for a full season, we know where we need to improve with the obvious goal to go on and challenge for Superbike wins. The BMWS1000RR still has so much potential in Superbike trimon the roads.
