As their decade playing Outlander’s time-travelling couple draws to an end, the pair tell us about portraying a marriage and finding their voice
TV’s favourite time-travelling lovers, Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan, have become close friends in their ten years playing Outlander’s Claire and Jamie Fraser.
But they can be forgiven for forgetting milestones in one another’s personal lives, given the two-year gap since the first half of season seven aired, with the long-awaited second half now hitting screens.
“Going back two years, Caitríona was pregnant throughout the whole season,” Sam says. “I wasn’t pregnant. In season six, I was pregnant,” replies his co-star, who is now mum to a three-year-old son with her husband, Irish music producer Anthony McGill.
