Tip the scale

Keeping your horse fit and trim will help you get the best from him – but if you’re the owner of a good-doer, it’s not always that simple. So, what can you do to get a handle on his weight?

TOP TIP

Ready, set, go For your horse to lose weight, you need to increase his energy output or reduce his energy input. This can be through exercising more or eating less – but a combination of the two is the most sustainable. I’ll guide you through the process step by step, but bear in mind that if you require more in-depth advice about building up your horse’s exercise, you should talk to your vet or instructor.
