After the sold-out success of The Sweeney Reunion 2 at The Cinema Museum in March 2020, due to popular demand, Misty Moon is proud to bring back The Sweeney to the Cinema Museum on Saturday June 18th for more tales of the flying squad from cast and crew.
The Sweeney (1975-1978) is a British TV drama focusing on two members of the Flying Squad, a branch of the Metropolitan Police specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London. It was made by Thames Television for broadcast on the ITV network. The programme’s title derives from “Sweeney Todd”, which is Cockney rhyming slang for “Flying Squad”. It starred John Thaw as Detective Inspector Jack Regan and Dennis Waterman (see In Memoriam) as his partner, Detective Sergeant George Carter.
Guests for the event include Diane Keen, a regular on television during the 1970s and early 1980s who starred in long-running sitcoms such as The Cuckoo Waltz (1975-80), Rings On Their Fingers (1978-80), Shillingbury Tales (1980-81) and You Must Be The Husband (1987-88), She had a high profile role as a high-priced call girl in the first film spin-off Sweeney! (1977).
Also in attendance will be other Sweeney alumni like Norman Eshley of George and Mildred fame, Dean Harris, John Flanagan, Madhav Sharma and George Sweeney, who played the violent psychopath Tim Cook in the episodes “Taste of Fear” and “On The Run”.

WHO’S THE NEW WHO!
As you probably all know by now anyway, Actor Ncuti Gatwa will take over from Jodie Whittaker as the star of Doctor Who. The 29-year-old will become the 14th Time Lord on the popular science fiction show, and the first person of colour to play the lead role. Scottish actor Gatwa, who was born in Rwanda, is best known for starring in Netflix’s sitcom Sex Education.
