WELCOME TO ITALIA !
It’s the August issue and in Italy August means one thing: Ferragosto. Not just a public holiday on the 15th, it’s more a state of mind. A religious and ancient celebration harking back to Roman times, it is also peak holiday time. Shops and businesses are closed for the long weekend, with an exodus of Italians taking their annual fortnight’s vacation one side or other of this auspicious day. While you might find shops closed in larger cities, Italy is very much open for business with plenty to see, do and discover right around the country. Roads are busier, beaches buzzing and it is an exciting month to be in Italy.
