Of Italy’s seas, the Tyrrhenian boasted the highest number of top beaches, according to the guide, entitled ‘Il mare più bello 2019’.
• The ancient site of Paestum in Campania has seen an exciting discovery after thick undergrowth was cleared to reveal an undiscovered Doric structure. Paestum was once a major ancient Greek city, and its remains are now a popular archaeological attraction with well-preserved temples and an amphitheatre.
