DAMSONS IN DISTRESS
*STAR* QUESTION WINS £25 VOUCHER
I have several damsons but very little fruit. Is it true that hanging stones in the branches may help?

David Patch, professional nurseryman, R V Roger Ltd DAVID SAYS: Hanging stones from branches can help as it makes the growth on the tree more horizontal and this tends to be more fruitful.
If there is plenty of blossom but no fruit, it is a problem of pollination. As you have several trees, it is likely due to poor weather in spring which stops bees from flying and pollinating your trees, or frosts which can damage the blossom. Put fleece over your trees in spring if cold nights are forecast.
