ROUND-UP
THE CLASH between the Warriors and Storm on Friday evening just goes to show how important goal-kicking is in this day and age.
Whilst the Warriors missed all three conversions to go with Edward Kosi’s treble, Melbourne managed to rack up eight points through conversions and penalties, taking the game away from the hosts, who scored just one less try than their opponents.
The Storm ran into the lead early, Justin Olam storming on to a short ball from Cameron Munster before Kosi got his first on the midway point in the first-half after a stunning pass from Wayde Egan.
Harry Grant restored Melbourne’s ascendancy following up a dominant run from Felise Kaufusi in the 26th minute as the visitors ran into a 10-4 lead.
However, Kosi got his second following yet another magical pass from Egan to reduce the deficit to two at half-time.
Melbourne managed to register their third of the night just a minute following the resumption through Jahrome Hughes.
And, the Storm finally had some breathing space on 53 minutes when Nick Meaney chased a superb Grant Anderson kick back on the inside after Melbourne broke down the right.
Kosi had enough time to get his hat-trick just after the hour, but a Munster penalty stretched the lead to 12 and the Warriors just didn’t have enough to claw their way back.
