REIGNING champions HUNSLET ARLFC slipped to a first defeat of the season – and somewhat emphatically, by 22-0 at mid-table EGREMONT RANGERS.
The South Leeds outfit, who had recently been held to draws at Rochdale Mayfield and Egremont’s Cumbrian neighbours Kells, conceded the first try of the game to Jon-Paul Brocklebank on 23 minutes.
Paul Corkhill added a touchdown on 33 minutes – Matt Bewsher adding his second conversion - and, shortly afterwards, Leon Crellin swept in for a 16-0 interval lead.
That was how it stayed until the game entered the final quarter, when Brocklebank added his second try and Bewsher booted his third goal.
