WAKEFIELD TRINITY coach Daryl Powell praised halfback Mason Lino for playing through the pain barrier to help the club clinch a first Wembley appearance since 1979.
The Samoan star sustained an ankle injury during the 1895 Cup semi-final showdown at Bradfordbut carried on organising as Powell's side hit back from being 8-0 down to win 40-14.
"I asked Mason to tough his way through," explained Powell, who knew there was extra responsibility on former New Zealand Warriors and Newcastle Knights' man Lino's shoulders because experienced Luke Gale was unavailable due to a groin problem (versatile Liam Kay filled in).
